Kansas City

kctrip Setting the course

martinlogan1 The oh so exciting speaker plant tour.

MeandLex We met up with Lex and her husband Trey after the lovely speaker plant tour. We went and ate at "Cheeseburger in Paradise", went for a hike and played with her dogs, and then Lex took us to see the plaza. (For the record downtown KC at 6pm - wasn't a bright idea)

kctrip2 We met up at Cabellas and had to go see their fish. That big fish and Justin had a moment.

concert3 So we got to the church and as we hit the ling the doors opened. I just "happened" to merge at the beginning of the line. Sometimes it works out in your favor to play oblivious!

We ended up sitting on the front row of the balcony - Justin's favorite. We sat next to a very talkative couple who were just so excited to have a day off from their kids. It was pretty amusing

Revive1 The opening band was an Australian band called "Revive". I'm pretty sure I had heard one of their songs on the radio. They were probably the best at audience interaction. Cute group and I suspect that the fact Mac Powell producing their new album will lend to the band being around for awhile.

DecembeRadio6 DecembeRadio is next and they were phenomenal. I was a fan before seeing them now they are one of my top few bands.

SanctusReal2 Sanctus Real was next. I new pretty much all their songs and they were good. Justin whined about too many effects on the lead singers voice which was apparently true since the guy we set next to knew about sound and things. I still thought they were good and the lead singer was pretty cute.

thirdday15 Third Day was a lot of fun. I had never seen them live before. It was really good. They did not sing a few of my favorites but did sing a variety of new and old.

thirddaytour3 The encore was a two song set which Third Day brought out all of the other bands. They ended on "God of Wonders" which was amazing and that song is not a favorite of mine.

So by the time we got out of the church lot it was 11pm. We stopped at a McDonalds for dinner and waited in line for 30 minutes. Justin drove to Clinton then said he fell asleep for a few seconds so I took over driving. Let me just say that Highway 13 at night is not fun. For the two hours I drove there were never any other cars around. Absolutely no lights or anything anywhere. Just blackness. Much like Kansas at night. About Bolivar which was about 145am I started really getting tired but I found good songs on the MP3 player and pressed on my way. We got home about 220am. The dogs had been perfect while we were gone.

So in review:

Things that were lovely about our trip:
- Seeing Lex and Trey
- Their dogs
- Meeting a Puggle

Things that were awesome
- The concert
- Watching Lex's dog freak over frisbees
- the GPS keeping us from getting lost
- The very happy surprise of finding out DecembeRadio was playing

Things that were not as lovely
- Subjected to an hour long speaker tour
- Driving in the black hole between here and Clinton
- The GPS taking us through a scary neighborhood

It was a fabulous day!
